Private estate visits

Discover a working English estate through its landscape, its daily life and the people who care for it.

Norfolk & Suffolk, England

A landscape brought to life

Walk with a host who can explain the ground beneath your feet: the history behind a field, the purpose of a woodland or the work taking place that season. A private estate visit offers time to look closely, ask questions and understand how the place has developed.

Farming, woodland and wildlife

An estate is a working landscape as well as a place to explore. Farming, forestry, conservation and deer management often sit alongside one another. Depending on the host and the areas available, a visit can reveal how decisions about one part of the land affect the rest, and how livelihoods and wildlife are considered together.

The people who know the ground

Simon draws on trusted relationships to explore suitable introductions to landowners, guides and countryside specialists in Norfolk and Suffolk. Your host might explain a practical management decision, share the story of a particular place or simply help you notice details you would otherwise pass by.

Time to explore and talk

This suits guests who enjoy conversation, history, wildlife or a closer understanding of rural life. A walk and hosted discussion can stand alone or form part of a longer countryside stay. Local food, a country pub or private dining where available can provide a natural continuation. The route, walking distance and length of visit are discussed beforehand.

Access by agreement

Every estate has its own working commitments and private spaces. The host, areas visited and subjects covered are agreed before confirmation, taking account of the season and what can appropriately be shared. House interiors, gardens and dining are included only where specifically agreed; a visit does not imply access to every part of an estate.

Begin with a conversation.

Tell Simon what you would most like to discover about estate life, whether that is its history, wildlife or the practical work of managing the land.
